....I'll go inside some day!

Well so much has happened over the past couple weeks and I have been a bit busy, exhausted and lazy with my blogging attempts!

So on with what's up with me and Mikey! First off, we moved Mike into a place we will call home...it was once home to Jill and Travis Johnson (perhaps you know them!) Just hours before we were to sign our apartment lease Travis called with a great offer we couldn't refuse. So we made the calls necessary to switch things around and we moved Mike into the town home instead :)

Once there we have put together a fun new table! (LOVING Ashley furniture these days!) We had moved a couch in that we were able to find on ksl.com for $10...believe me....at the time SO worth it. I was the one not wanting to ruin nice furniture moving around all the time. We will be at the town home for at least a year....perhaps longer so we broke down and just yesterday purchased new couches! We will get them just as we get back from our honeymoon!!

Moving on....last Thursday was the Simmon's annual Lagoon day! I was a bit under the weather but still all in all a great time! We look forward to next year and many years to come :)

Last but certainly not least...in fact next week wouldn't be taking place if this had not happened... I finally stepped foot into the temple and received my endowment. Yes we are a peculiar people, a fairly common phrase at my house this weekend! I look forward to going back and learning more and focusing much much more. It's been nice to reflect on it though over the past few days and really realize how cool it all is. I have adjusted to my extra layer pretty well actually, granted it's only been a few days! We'll see how I do in California on our honeymoon in hot hot temps at Disneyland!! All in all a wonderful experience though!

Well that's about it for now....that's just a quick recap....I'm not sure what else will be posted before next week! I will let you know now though, I will be starting a whole new blog once my last name changes.....so be looking for that announcement in the near future!!
So just in case you don't hear from me before the wedding, JULY 23RD 2008 we shall ya'll at the celebration!!! Bring those dancin' feet :)

3 Showers

Well not only did I shower in my bathroom yesterday I was showered with gifts at 2 more showers!

The first Shower was my friend shower! LINGERIE GALORE! I seriously got spoiled! Thanks ladies! Erica, M
andy and Jen pulled it together really well, thank you!

The second shower I wasn't alone! Mike was invited to this one as it was given by the Simmons family! It was our grocery shower! My parents came too. We got so many great things and if anyone likes waffles or pancakes I think I know where you might be able to get some!!! Ha-ha Thank you Simmons gang for such a wonderful shower. Mike and I are truly blessed to come from such amazing families! We love you!

Time to say goodbye

Last week was my last time teaching the young women
of the River Oaks 5th Ward.
I have learned so much from these girls.
I couldn't have asked for a better group to work with.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity I had to be blessed by them
and hopefully they learned a thing or two from me!

Model for a Day....

As much as I love the camera and pictures are the best memory capturers being a model for a day was about all I could handle!! Wednesday was a day the day I got my bridals done! My mom and Mike's mom, Lynn, were there too and took some fun pictures! My professional ones won't be available until Wednesday on the www.donpolo.com site! I would love to post more pictures... but you know how it goes, the groom is not allowed to see his bride in her dress until the day of!

Randomness

I have been tagged! Here I will list 6 random things about me that you may or may not know!

1. I can NOT sleep in shirts with 3/4 length sleeve. It's gotta be full sleeve, short sleeve, tank or well...no sleeves!

2. I will not leave my house without mascara. (I may have a time or two but it's not likely!) Trust me, you can thank me for that!

3. I'm a receptionist, though I don't particularly enjoy talking on the phone. I am easily distracted so if you want a serious conversation with me, it's best in person or even e-mail.

4. 99.9% of the time I have to fall asleep with my TV on. If it's off it's because I have a migraine and the light from the screen will only make it worse. Lucky for me Mike is the same, so neither of us will have to adjust to the other's TV habit!

5. I actually ENJOY my church calling. I might have a major breakdown when I leave this ward. I'm not joking.

6. I'm afraid of the dark, or should I say what might be in the dark! (somehow I survive darkness when I have a migraine though!) I'm not sure how long I've been afraid of the dark, but I'm sure it has something to do with the nightmares I had as a child after watching Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Weird!

Erica, Melissa, Melinda, Louise, Emily and Lori *TAG!!! You're it!*

Fancy Feet

After years of having to break in my own shoes
I have discovered a much easier way,
and one that is not only enjoyable for some,
but entertaining for the rest of us!
Thank you Jessi Kate, you're a life saver!

The Ultimate Compliment!

This past weekend Mike and I were given a GREAT compliment, by our standards anyway! Jeff and Venita were hanging out with us and I'm not sure exactly what provoked Jeff to say what he said but it made our day! Jeff told us that the chemistry between us reminds him of Jim and Pam from NBC's The Office!! For those who are fans of the show can probably understand why this was such a compliment, for those who don't....well shame on you! Honestly!

*Since this picture was taken we have been working on our postures!

The Family Shower

Saturday was the first of a few showers to come! My sisters got together and planned a nice family shower for me. We quilted a blanket, Jill recorded Mike a few days earlier asking some questions which I too had to answer, we ate yummy food and of course opened some wonderful gifts!

Thank you everyone that came, it was great to see you all and catch up with you cousins!

Here's the whole gang

3 crazy cousins that I just love!

HAPPY 60TH PA!!

My dad turned 60 this weekend! All of the family was over for ridiculously yummy ribs made by Nanna! A banner was made but never got it put up....he came home early from the ward golf tournament and saw it drying out on the front sidewalk!! HAHA!!
I think he had a great birthday though!! We sure love our Pa!!

Also Tanner Simmons turns 5 this week! We celebrated on Sunday with the Simmons clan!!

*Sorry for the lack of pictures, I've been forgetful with the camera lately!*

Kim and Mike are registered...

...at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond!

We had a grand time picking out all the fun home stuff! We were lucky when we ran into a newlywed couple at Bed bath and Beyond before we had the scanner in our hands. They told us to just look around the store then register online because the place is a mad house! We gladly took their advice! Target we had fun scanning! We scanned the first item together (everyone all together now...NEEERDS!!!) We know and we're proud! I of course got to do the majority of the scanning but Mike had fun too.

Next week we meet with the florist and the following week is cake tasting!! YUM!

Plank That!

So lately I've been better about working out a little bit, with emphasis on little! When I watch TV I've been doing crunches and some light arm toning! Well I've also been timing myself with planks! Those unfamiliar with planks I will post a picture (just one I found on google). My new record is 2 minutes 8 seconds!! I know it doesn't sound like much but trust me...it's better than it sounds! I'm proud of myself tonight so I had to post it! If you haven't tried them, give them a shot! It basically works your whole body in one position, though planks aren't just done in the position shown. My next challenge, side planks! Whew!

This is an example of a plank
(When you haven't been faithful at working out, it's harder than it looks!)

Disclaimer

Just want everyone who read the previous post to know that Jill is not a mean sister! She did not have intentions to hurt my feelings, and that she did not! She is a great sister just joking around with her kid sister, we might be adults now but we are always sisters and that's what sisters do...tell each other what to do, how to do it and still love each other! And those that REALLY know me, know darn well I haven't stuck to that diet! I have been better about what actually goes into my mouth, sometimes, but I'm too lazy to watch what I EAT on a daily basis! Come on, get real! Besides....last week my dress zipped up! It's all good my fellow bloggers, all good!

A bride to be

So Monday I came home for lunch to make me a sandwich, healthy right? I thought so. Jill was a witness to my making when she so kindly asked "Do I need to teach you how to make a bride to be sandwich!?" Apparently my sandwich wasn't quite so healthy! It consisted of white bread, tukey slices, ranch dressing and a single slice of cheese. Doesn't sound too bad right?! Well yesterday I think I deprived myself due to this small conversation! I think I got it right today though! I started off the morning with 2 egg whites, and a bowl of Wheaties with some sliced up strawberries. And for lunch, WHEAT bread, turkey and chicken slices, a slice of a pickle (those cool sandwich kind) and a tomato slice! NO cheese, or dressing of any kind! I thru it on my grill and it was delightful! I also enjoyed 2 more slices of tomato and a hard boiled egg! Try and tell me I had an unhealthy lunch, just try!!! I'm also drinking LOTS of water. I should probably set up my office in the ladies room! Sheesh!

what did you eat today!?

Come and knock on our doooor...

....We'll be waiting for yoooou!

Last weekend our basement filled up....with new roomies! My sister, her husband and daughter have moved in until they find a new place to call home!

Jessica has been sick and as much time as I have spent around people with colds and such this past winter I never really got a bad one....well let me tell you what having a 2 1/2 year old niece living with you can do to that! I'M SICK! (*cough* cough*) Well sicker than I've been in a long time. I missed work Thursday and Friday and today I'm going to try and make it to teach my Laurels but even the thought is wiping me out. You would think I'd be sleeping great with how exhausted I am. Sleep? WHAT IS THAT?! I want some!!!
Anyway...though Jessi Kate shared her cold with me I'm still excited they are here with us for a bit. Who knows they might be here until after I'm gone!

Yesterday Mike came over and we had some apartment books to look at. (it's the best I could do from my bed!) But I think we have some really great options to look into calling home! It's getting exciting, OH and we booked our photogrpher! The great Adilfa with Don Polo photography! She is the same crazy fun lady that did Jill's wedding! We love her!

That's it for now...I'm going to go sleep...oh wait...what's that!?

It really was nice

Aunt Jerry's funeral really was nice. The kindest words were said about her and the choir was amazing. I've never heard a more beautiful ward choir in my life!!
We love and will miss our aunt but we know she is with our loving father in heaven and she's watching over us!

A Courageous Woman

My sweet Aunt Jerry passed away early Monday morning after a courageous
battle with cancer. We will miss her. She is loved by so many. She was a wonderful
aunt, mother, sister, grandmother and daughter. She is a hero to us all.
We all love and will miss you.

Mikey

So...Mike finally updated his blog...he must have been REALLY bored!

Anyway...check it out...MIKEY! I know he was really struggling figuring out all this stuff....

(for those of you that know Mike know that the last line there is a COMPLETE joke, he's a computer nerd!)

In the works

(sorry...a tad bit lengthy!)

Tonight is the first night in a couple of weeks that I am home doing pretty much NOTHING and it is WONDERFUL!!!! Of course that doesn't mean that NOTHING is on my mind, trust me there is plenty, plenty to go around and share :)
This past weekend we went to St. George (I hope at this point when I say "we" I am referring to Mike and myself unless otherwise noted) so WE went to St. George for baby Tessa's blessing! She looked SO sweet and we had a great time holding her and playing with the kids, and watching Audrey's cheer performance!! She was the best one! GO AUDREY!!

I also found my wedding dress! We made a couple appointments to try on dresses so I would know for sure which style would look best. After trying on a few we knew what style would best fit me...and it wasn't really ANY of the ones I had tried on which were sheath, although not the worst, still not the best. And then I tried IT on! When I walked out of the dressing room all the girls starting smiling and clapping and giving BIG thumbs up of approval! They could see how happy I was and felt in this dress. We asked the price and mom said she can't make it for that price so we bought it! Mom will make a few alterations which I really can't share here on my ever so public blog that Mike might read! If you are too impatient let me know and I will e-mail you a picture : )

Well now that we have the temple and reception booked at Heritage Gardens, the luncheon and the dress I guess we can get married now...OH WAIT...no we can't....there still SO much to do.
Next up, picking out invitations. Lucky for us Mike's step dad Mike Bailey has his own printing company and so we can just chill at the homestead and pick out an invitation that fits out style!
Hopefully next week we will get in touch with a photographer because really that should be NEXT! Oh and we have material for the 7 bridesmaid skirts....and Mike's worried 16 weeks won't come fast enough..WHATEVER I have PLENTY to do, what's his problem!? ( hehe just jokin' babe, love you!)

Well because I can't show you my dress I will happily show off Tessa's blessing dress!! Isn't she so flippin' cute!?

The first of many....

Here's a little secret....today I had my first little overwhelming moment hit me that I'm getting married! I'm sure this will be the first of many to come...after 27 years I'm taking that step, and moving along in my life with a wonderful man, and as much as I am stoked and over-joyed I can also become a bit overwhelmed!! (Those who know me well are reading this nodding their heads in agreement!) Well over the years when I have been faced with trials or anxiety if you will I have learned to rely on the Lord very much. Today was one of those days!! I came home from work, ran to my room and just started to pray....it's the best thing I did all day :) I'm just so thankful that the Lord knows me and at this point he's probably up there just chucklin' at me a little thinkin' "Oh Kim...it get better!" (he knows that when little Jessi Kate says this I can't help by smile!)
Anyway, Mike knows me as well and sensed it was one of those days and just let me be me. It's one of the wonderful things I admire about Mike.
Ok sorry, I'm rambling a bit...
So to get to my point of this blog, I was inspired to review my lesson for YW for Sunday. I opened the manual and the lesson is on Unity in the Family. I'm very excited about this and it started to make me feel more calm. Then service kept entering my mind, and just tonight after coming home from my girls night watching Idol I opened up my e-mail and I had one from LDSNuggets and it was on SERVICE!!!! Now tell me the Lord had no part in that!
Here is the thought in the e-mail:

"Jesus said several times, “Come, follow me.” His was a program of “do what I do,” rather than “do what I say.” His innate brilliance would have permitted him to put on a dazzling display, but that would have left his followers far behind. He walked and worked with those he was to serve. His was not a long-distance leadership. He was not afraid of close friendships; he was not afraid that proximity to him would disappoint his followers. The leaven of true leadership cannot lift others unless we are with and serve those to be led."

--Spencer W. Kimball, "Jesus: The Perfect Leader", Ensign, Aug. 1979, 5

I'm sorry if tonight's post wasn't too exciting, maybe it was just a place for me to leave me thoughts tonight. I'm just so thankful that I have learned to have faith in our Lord and Savior. He knows us all, and I will forever be thankful for that.

Sleep well my friends!

"She said YES!!"

It's true I SAID YES!! And here is how it all went down....

About 7:45am Mike showed up at my house. My parents are currently in St. George so he let himself in thru the garage! He went straight to the kitchen and started making breakfast! I slowly got up and shuffled my tired eyes into the kitchen to say good morning. He had the table set with a gerbera daisy by my plate along with a hollow chocolate bunny!
After we ate I got ready for the day and we headed out the door. Mike had been wanting to fly a kite...or so that's what he WANTED me to think! Instead we made a quick stop at KMart for a quick photo booth shot! (KMart was the place we took our first ever photo booth shots together!)
We then went to Target in hopes to find a thin vase for my new flower. From Target Mike drove us to Boondocks (keep in mind I had NO clue what he was doing, all I thought was he was just wanting to get out and play!) While at Boondocks we won nearly 1400 tickets thanks to Mikes getting the JACKPOT 4 times on one game! I did my share though on another game that helped us out! Ok...moving on....we were both pretty hungry so we decided the mall would be a good place because wouldn't you know it, Mike needed me to point on which ring it was that I wanted again.....(riiiight) Well of course there's a photo booth in the mall that we had visited about 6 weeks prior. We hopped in and the first picture was taken...Mike then stood up sending me into a panic saying "HURRY SIT DOWN IT'S GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER ONE!!" At this point Mike was down on one knee! He asked me in the photo booth!!! We laughed so hard, it was wonderful!!! He really couldn't have done it better, we were both just so happy, I basically started shouting right there in the mall that we had just gotten engaged!!! LOL

The picture says it all!
I couldn't be happier!! I was quite convinced that the Easter Bunny would be the one to leave me a surprise! By Noon today we were officially engaged! We have been able to call family and friends and make a couple visits to share our happy news. So family and friends there you have it! Mark your calendars for July 23rd 2008, that is our officially wedding date!!

Oh...and here's the ring!

A little rain, a little snow, a little inside fun!

Well Mike and I made the best of the weather on Saturday! I started the day off at the salon getting my nails done...it's been SO LONG!! Then we helped Jeph and Venita move...I moved the clothes :) After we parted ways we stopped off at Jamb juice for a smoothie then decided to check out Steve and Berry's....interesting store, but the day got much better! While the big snow flake were falling we got in the hot tub to warm up, then just the 2 of us played scattergories and clue!! It was so great!

I won Clue, only by default though, his accusation was wrong! he-he
Scattergories we went for best out of 5, by round 3 I was ahead by 1, then he pulled thru and won! It was pretty entertaining!
To top the night off we watched AUGUST RUSH!!!!!!

For those of you who have yet to see this movie you MUST MUST MUST!!!!! It's seriously so good....tears just streamed out of my tear ducts! The soundtrack is awesome too, we made it our Sunday music today :) We really had a great weekend!

Today we all went up to Danny and Lisa's for some yummy lasagna! Thank you Danny and Lisa for having all of us over today, it was good to see everyone again! Mike had been missing his nephews especially so he got some good play time in with them!!
Thanks Mikey for another great weekend!!

A night of entertainment!

Last night Mike and I used the tickets he got me for the joyous concert of 2 of my new favorite artists right now; Joshua Radin and Ingrid Michaelson. Both play acoustic fulk type music. I have some of their songs on my playlist if you care to take a listen!
We left a bit early....we are not the night owls we used to be and it was a work night, but we saw all of Ingrid's set and a good portion of Joshua's, both were very pleasing to the ears!!!
Thanks Mikey for taking me! I love that we share common interest in music, and I'm proud to say that I introduced both of these great musicians to Mike....well their music anyway :)

Take 2 of these and call me in the mornin'...

Well I'm a little slow at the update of taking the lime light from Mike. That is because I DIDN'T GET TO!!!! It was quite the show at Dr. Martin's office Monday afternoon, though, just to be told that I shouldn't do anything with my cyst, aka Carl, at this point other than give it a name and show it off at parties...way ahead of you doc!!! Then Tuesday at the eye doc, wait...back up, for those that didn't know, ever since I got the black eye I was seeing random flashes, it's like I'm in my own strobe light show....anyhow, the doc couldn't see anything so he wants to see me back in 2 weeks to double check but it appears that everything will heal just fine. Whatever you say doc!

And thank you to Emily Allen for advising me to get into the eye doc ASAP! Silly me thought the flashes were just so exciting.....(see post below! ha-ha)

Nerds and Geeks

As many of you know I opted to not attend college, rather I chose to further my education at Equity Title in hopes to become SMRT! I'm not one of those cool kids with my own lap top...right now I'm using mommy and daddy's office computer. One day it would be fun to have my own lap top to fit in. Until that day comes though it is imperative that I hang out with the nerds that have them so that I may learn their nerd skills and one day be geeks like them! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Not to be outdone!

So yesterday at work Mike got himself an ouchy...an ouchy big enough for 7 stitches! I like to tease him saying that he had to out-do my black eye from last weekend!! Well don't worry, I'll take that lime light away once again as my wrist gets cut open
on Monday to have that darn "Carl" removed...yes...
Carl the ganglion cyst has been making a come back and causing lots of pain so it's time to go under the knife.

But for now.....Mike can shine in the spot light with his red bandaged pointer finger!!

A new Favorite

So I know I know the post below is longer than a years calendar but deal with it!
Mike and I took this picture of us over the weekend and gosh darn it I think it's quite cute!

So Much....

Well so much has happened over the past week this might get lengthy!
First off HAPPY VALENTINES!!! When I got to work on Valentine's morning a monkey had taken my seat, he is now known as DWILL because he was wearing a pink Jazz jersey with D-Williams #8!

He was so cute I couldn't help but have a little fun!
Inside the heart box were not what you think....NO CHOCOLATES!!! Instead there were tickets to see Joshua Radin, a current favorite of mine! I'm so excited! Both Mike and I really enjoy his music and he's playing with Ingrid Michaelson who is also very good, which Mike will soon find out :) I gave Mike a book by Glenn Beck "An Inconvenient Book", which he read parts to me while we drove down to Cedar City/St. George this past Presidents Day weekend....this carries me to the next "So Much..."

This past weekend we took a lovely road trip to St. George, though we stayed at Aunt Barb's and Uncle Jeff's in Cedar (it was free!) Mike and I were joined by his brother Jeph and his wife Venita and my buddy Marianna and her hubby Trevor.

While we were in St. George I had the fun pleasure of seeing family and meeting the cutest new addition Tessa Marchant

(isn't she a doll!?!)

I got to do Audrey's hair for church! She was a princess....

And Mike had a chat with Quinn....

Later Saturday we all went to play in the park by the St. George Temple. In the next few pictures I am only in the picture sitting on the ground because it was only a short time of being there that I got in a fight myself and won....I have a small black eye to prove it!!! though I never did get a picture of it, you can maybe see it in a few pictures with me and Mike!

just before the accident

About an hour after when I could open my eye!

Flies UP!

Well with all of the hard play Mike happened to throw out his back a bit...so while at Wal-Mart he grabbed a scoot-ma-toot....I had been his crutch and I thought a scoot ride would be more enjoyable....for all!!

It was such a fun time!! Me with my black eye, Mike looking like an old man we were peas in a pod this weekend!!! I don't think there is anyway either of us could forget this weekend! Thanks to all! We truly had a great time with our friends and vising the Marchant Madness gang!

And there you have it folks, a weeks worth of fun....of course I spared some of the details...but you heard the juicy stuff :)
