A little lemon, a little sugar, a little water...LEMONADE!!

In preparing my YW lesson for this week I came across some great quotes. It's been a blessing for me to teach these young women and after not being able to teach for about a month now with conference and all I am really looking forward to teaching my girls about Self-Mastery and Optimism.

The first quote is given by President Spencer W. Kimball
"The height of a man's success is gauged by his self-mastery; the depth of his failure by his self-abandonment...He who cannot establish a dominion over himself will have no dominion over others. He who masters himself shall be king"

Marvin J. Ashton said:
"We must be more concerned with what we do with what happens to us than what happens to us."

Learn to be Optimistic
1. Count your blessing
2. Learn the power of laughter (this one might be my favorite!)
3. Enjoy beautiful music and literature, they can lift your spirits
4. Look for beauty everywhere you go, in nature, in art, in the faces of loved ones
5. Strive to improve yourself each day
6. Look for the GOOD in everything
7. Understand and live the Gospel "for in right living there can be no remorse of conscience (Bruce R. McConkie)

Pumpkin Heads

Well we had another great FHE this week! Marianna and Trevor joined us for some pumpkin
carving. It got messy but we cleaned up fast and had fun with the camera...of course!
And just so you know, the kissing picture, we didn't know each other was planning the smooch!! Good times! Next week we get to dress up for Halloween...I'm going as Ginger Spice!! Spice Girls are coming back....watch out!

Birthday with the Nana

Mom turned 55 on Sunday! She got a nice new ring from Dad and some new jammies from the kids! Mae loved Nana's card, it sang, "She's a brick....Hooouuuse!" We missed the St. George Marchant's but the rest of the gang gathered together for dinner and desserts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!!!

Fun with Mike

This weekend was spent playing games and laughing A LOT with Mike's family. We played charades again, I think it's becoming a family favorite! We are in talks of a karaoke night in which Danny and Lisa said they would for sure join in! (they are a little shy when it comes to acting but not singing I guess!!) Here are a couple of pictures of Mike and I after church. They are the first ones taken of us all dressed up! We had a fun weekend....coming up...Mom's birthday! So next weekend is going to be Marchant Fun!

FHE With Momma Simmons

Monday nights Mike and I get with his brother Jeff and wife Venita for Family Home Evening. This week we roasted hot dogs and mallows in Mike's fire pit then played a fun game of Charades! The night got better when Lynn, Mike and Jeff's mom, joined us for a few rounds! It's a shame we didn't get her acting out her American Ninja but this was 2nd best!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I wear my ribbon for my Grandma (Limb) Monroe and my Aunt Jerry, both are breast cancer survivors!
Who do you wear your pink ribbon for?!
Tip: Walking a mile a day can decrease the risk of breast cancer. Walk for those you love, those you have suffered and survived. Walk for the cure and may God bless you :)

The new kid

I am the new kid in this blog of craziness! What will be next?! Maybe you computer nerds can answer that one for me :) I'm sure I will become addicted to this just as I have with anything else I've gotten into to keep in touch with family and friends. The pictures under My Day Off were taken yesterday (October 3rd 2007) and what a fun day that was. It ended with me getting in a brawl with a pole and I have the marking to prove it. The weather was in our favor luckily so aside from the pole beating we enjoyed ourselves! This weekend the weather should be interesting, sledding anyone!? I am looking forward to General Conference and the naps that usually take place :) We also get to celebrate Jaelyn's birthday at the Simmon's house-hold. If I can only make it thru the rest of today and Friday!!! Whew!!
